Whitecourt figure skating showcase ( 3/10/2010 )

The Whitecourt figure skating club is hosting their big annual showcase this weekend.

Over 100 athletes from around the area will be packing the twin arenas beginning at 630 on Friday.

Cinnamon buns will be sold, and so will 50/50 tickets.

All proceeds of the 50/50 will go towards the Newbury family.

Peers bonspiel this weekend ( 3/10/2010 )

Peers is hosting a mixed bonspiel this weekend.

The cost is 140 for a team, which includes the banquet and calcutta.

Whitecourt Minor Hockey has decided to move the Bantam AA's into a new league next year.

An information session for parents is beng held Wednesday night at the Twin Arenas at 7pm.

NWJHL finals begin on Saturday ( 3/9/2010 )

The game times have been announced for the NWJHL finals.

The Whitecourt Wolverines will welcome the Grand Prairie Wheelers to the twin arenas this Saturday at 8pm, with game 2 going in GP on Sunday at 330.

The team will be drawing the name for the Las Vegas trip during this series as well.

The first 200 peiope through the door to each home game get their name qualified.

After this series, this is the last time you can see the team on home ice until next season.

Minor hockey ( 3/8/2010 )

The Whitecourt Bantam AA Jets will be off the league finals. They tied Edson 3-3 over the weekend, but won because of total goals.

The finals begin Saturday against either Barrhead or Slave Lake.

The Whitecourt Atom IGA thrashers will also be in the finals. They won their series against Edson, winning 2-0 over the weekend. Griffin Debussac and Dawson Keefe potted the goals. Assists went to Walter Oling, Logan Tschigerl and Ty Prokipchuck.

Junior GCAA's basketball ( 3/8/2010 )

Lots of XM country teams were playing over the weekend.

Junior Boys GCAA's
Hilltop beat St. Joes 41-37 in the final. Percy Baxter edged out Onoway 37-36 in the consolation final.

Junior Girls GCAA's
It was another Hilltop St. Joes final. This time St. Joes came out on top, winning 47-39. In the consolation final, Onoway beat Swan Hills 43-19.

Whitecourt defeats Edson in Bantam AA game 1 ( 3/5/2010 )

The SPHL playoffs continue.....

Whitecourt beat Edson 8-4 in the Bantam AA semi finals at the twin arenas last night.

Game 2 of the 2 game total goal series will resume in Edson on Saturday at 12:15

Fallen four hockey game coming up ( 3/4/2010 )

The 5 year anniversary of the fallen four was yesterday.

And the annual Anthony Gordon memorial hockey game is coming up in just over 2 weeks.

The Whitecourt oldtimers will battle the RCMP staff on March 19th at the twin arenas.

The fallen four society is looking for anyone to donate memorobilia for the silent auction.

A tax receipt will be issued.
