Dave Dawson - News
Director / Reporter
Dave grew up in Winnipeg, has no hair, a boney frame, biased opinions and a deep voice. So naturally, he ended up in radio.
His dream started at an early age (when he was bald the first time) by playing the good ol’ knob hockey games in his living room. Just to amuse himself, he would play both ends and do the play by play as those little plastic 2-Dimensional hockey figures dazzled the cardboard rink.
And from then on, there was no turning back. After working a series of odd jobs through his late teens and mid 20’s, Dave found his foot in the door ( usually it was my head, arm or nose. And all by accident) being the “voice over” at a variety of plays around the city.
From there, Dave found a gig writing game stories and conducting post game interviews for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers ( Insert bad pun here)
He attended the Western Academy Broadcasting College in Saskatoon in 2007, and began his radio career in 2008 at XM Country. He was promoted to News and Sports Director in July 2009.
Dave followed the Whitecourt Wolverines to the Alberta Junior B Provincial Finals as the play by play man, and wears long johns when the weather drops below 5 degrees Celsius.
Dave enjoys:
The simple things in life. Pants that fall down easily, strawberry tea, the Vancouver Canucks, UFC, chick flicks, dark haired women, rusty 1990’s sedans, afternoon naps, The OC, taking pants to the dry cleaners, sarcasm, writing, picking up his pants from the drycleaners, forgiveness and honesty.
Oh, and when the Major League Baseball season is over. That makes me say goody goody gumdrops.
Dave loves kids, meeting new people and working with Andrew Joseph in the morning.
Long term plans? Your guess is as good as his. Settle down and have a family some day. But that would mean he would need to shower regularily.

Jordan James - News Reporter
Hi. I'm the guy you hear doing the afternoon news and sports. I'm a huge
Oilers fan so its pretty cool to be living in "Oil Country" now.
I grew up in a small town called Middle Lake in Saskatchewan. Middle Lake
has about 300 people so you can understand when I laugh when Whitecourt is
called a small town. I graduated in 2008 and went to Western Academy
Broadcasting College. I worked in Melfort for a bit and now I am here!
I'm a sports fan and love to play. Hockey, golf, and bowling are at the
top of my list. I enjoy watching movies (Happy Gilmore is #1) and believe it
or not, I'm a guy who actually likes to read.
I'm definitely excited to be here, to be on air, and to be working with
the XM crew!

Alice McFarlane -
Agricultural Reporter
Agriculture has always been a part of my life. I grew up on the family
farm north of Gronlid, Saskatchewan where my family ran a crop and livestock
operation.
My broadcasting career began in Melfort in 1981 as the weekend news
announcer. After almost 18 years in Melfort I left to take a position with
the North East School Division. I jumped at the chance to return to
broadcasting. I'm excited to be a part of the agriculture programming at XM
105.
Growing up on the farm I understand the stresses and frustrations of
being a producer. We've experienced the highs of a bumper crop to the lows
of hail storms and an early frost. As my neighbour says, "Until it's in
the bin, it's just green grass".
I volunteer whenever I can. I've been involved with the Canadian Cancer
Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, 4-H and Child Find. I've served as a
junior high science fair judge, volleyball coach, youth group leader and
served on fund-raising campaigns.
When I'm not on the road or "on the air" I'll likely be found
on my farm cutting acres of grass, gardening, going on ATV rides and fishing
(summer or winter) with my husband, Linden. In the winter I enjoy reading,
watching movies and cross-country skiing. We are preparing for Empty Nest
Syndrome. We have one daughter, Rhea, who graduates from high school in 2010
and a son, Joel, who is attending the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied
Science and Technology enrolled in the Recreation and Tourism Management
program at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Our third family member is Sequoya, an
11 year old Norwegian Elkhound who patrols the yard and keeps the rabbits
and squirrels in line.
